Roles & Permissions

Login access is three company roles. Branch restriction is a separate setting. Job titles on the Employees list are not extra login roles.

Company roles (live Team Members)

Settings → Team → Team Members maps to:

UI label	Stored role	What they can do
Owner	owner	Everything: billing, team, settings, financials, all branches. Only an Owner can promote someone else to Owner. Owners always have all-branch access.
Manager	admin	Settings, financials, reports, team (except promoting to Owner). Inventory: add, edit and bulk-update products — bulk Delete stays Owner-only. Can be limited to selected branches. Cannot run billing the way Owner can (subscription / factory-level company controls stay Owner).
Staff	staff	Day-to-day jobsheets, check-in, and payments as allowed. No manager Settings / Financials / Team admin. Can be restricted to assigned branches.

At least one Owner or Manager must remain. Demoting yourself to Staff drops Settings, Financials, and other manager-only areas.

Branch access

All branches — sees every location.
Restricted to selected branches — only those catalogs, jobsheets, invoices, and payments. Backend writes (including payments) reject branches not on the list.

Pick at least one branch, or switch back to all branches. Set a default branch per member.

Employees vs login

Team → Employees / Staff Management holds technician name, branch, salary, and commission type. That is who appears on Staff commission. It is not a fourth login role. A cashier who never needs GP commission may only need a Staff login.

DOCUMENTATION DRIFT — named roles An older in-app help page lists seven names (Owner, Admin, Branch Manager, Accountant, Technician, Cashier, Staff). The live Team Members screen only saves owner / admin / staff (shown as Owner / Manager / Staff). We follow the live screen here. If your shop still talks about "Accountant" or "Cashier", treat those as job titles or Staff/Manager assignments — not separate login types — until product settings show more role dropdown values.
